Emergency First Aid Fundamentals
Our highest level of emergency aid including head trauma, cardiac arrest, spine injuries, and more.
Class Description
This intensive course teaches students how to perform immediate care for multiple types of injuries including how to stabilize spinal injuries; check and open airways; assess breathing and provide rescue breaths; options for moving an injured person; how to check secondary vital signs and perform a rapid trauma assessment; effective bleeding control including how to pack wounds and use compression bandages, tourniquets and chest seals; assessing and treating burns; musculoskeletal trauma and how to use commercial splints and create field-expedient options; head trauma including skull fractures, traumatic brain injury and concussions; trauma to the scalp, face, or eye; mass casualty incidents and implementing the triage system; field treatment of a heart attack including chest compressions and using an AED; assessing and handling diabetic emergencies; signs and symptoms of strokes; seizures and fainting; snakebites; hypothermia and hyperthermia; choking and the Heimlich maneuver; drug overdose; and building your own first aid kit. Although exceptionally informative and packed with training everyone should have, this class is not a certification course to become a medical professional and it also does not provide a substitution for seeking emergency medical care. This class includes many hands-on exercises and is excellent for learning first-line emergency treatment to render potentially life-saving medical care while awaiting the arrival of an EMS team. It is a very important skillset for all parents to possess as well as those caring for older loved ones. Ages 18 and over.
