Class Description
This course teaches the legal use of force including what is considered reasonable force, deadly force and the use-of-force continuum; potential real-world scenarios and case evaluation; deadly force laws; the physiological response to extreme stress; visual, auditory and memory distortions; evaluating your self-defense options and potential areas to shoot the attacker to stop an imminent deadly threat; when the right to use deadly force ends; the immediate aftermath and how to handle the 911 call, police arrival, and when to request an attorney. This course also covers many self-defense laws including important federal, District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia laws. The information in this course is crucial for all students to gain the required understanding of complex self-defense scenarios, potential outcomes, and self-defense laws that are imperative to act in accordance with.
