Class Description

This complete course teaches all aspects of personal and home defense including the following: situational awareness, conflict avoidance, personal protection plan, home security, developing a home defense and family response plan; self-defense firearm basics including types of firearms and calibers, safety rules, clearing, and handling malfunctions; defensive shooting fundamentals such as proper grip, effective trigger control, sight alignment and stance, muscle memory, and target focus vs front sight focus; legal use of force including the definition of reasonable force, the use-of-force continuum, and potential real-world scenarios; Violent encounters and their aftermath including the physiological effects such as fight or flight, adrenaline and the visual, auditory, and memory distortions; evaluating your options and the potential legal and financial aftermath of self-defense acts; possible areas to shoot the attacker to stop an imminent deadly threat and when the right to use deadly force ends; gear including holsters, tactical flashlights, safes and storage, and laser sights; skills and drills such as how to practice with a SIRT gun, fundamental drills, speed and precision drills, drawing from a holster, flashlight holds, and other self-defense tool options. Any firearm fundamentals practiced during this classroom-only course are taught with SIRT (shot indicating resetting trigger) guns, which are designed to feel just like a real firearm but give students the benefits of high-level training and operate with a laser instead of live-fire ammo. This provides real-time feedback in a safe environment and allows for both tactical and defensive training scenarios. There are 5 options of SIRT Pro guns to choose from when training with Stellr Defense, including those modeled after the Glock 19, Glock 17/22, Smith & Wesson M&P, a Pocket Pistol and a Pistol Caliber Carbine rifle. In this class, students get to try each handgun model and select which one they want to train with during class. This highly-informative class is packed with education and skill development that will empower students to feel confident in their firearm, personal defense, and home defense knowledge.
